Marketing (B.S.)
Program Overview
A major in marketing prepares students for careers in management that are directly related to the process of facilitating the flow of goods and services from producers to consumers. This major takes an interdisciplinary approach to training students for a variety of career possibilities including marketing management, marketing research, advertising, customer service, public relations, merchandising, retailing, and sales—customizing the major based on a student’s particular interests. Students are encouraged to pursue careers in private industry, non-profit organizations, and the public sector.
Program Learning Outcomes
Graduates from Messiah’s Marketing program can:
- Apply key marketing strategies in the changing real-world environment demonstrating an expert knowledge of the marketing function’s impact on organizations, consumers and society.
- Know systems and processes for analyzing marketing opportunities and problems.
- Demonstrate advanced skills in analysis, teamwork, and oral and written communication.
- Recognize the importance of being good stewards of the marketing profession in regards to social responsibility, law and ethics, and the Christian Faith.
- Apply foundational content related the Common Professional Component.
- Develop a comprehensive corporate financial analysis report.
- Articulate their awareness of their self-identity and vocational calling.
- Articulate the importance of Christian principles, ethics, personal and company values, and socially responsible business practices.

Nine credits of specialized marketing courses (9):
MRKT 362, MRKT 364: If a student takes MRKT 362 as part of the major requirements, the course may not apply towards the nine credits of specialized marketing. The same applies to MRKT 364.
INTE 391 must be taken for a letter grade to apply towards the major requirements.
