NURS 210 Health Assessment

The focus of this course is to establish a foundation in conducting a thorough health assessment. Included is an introduction to using appropriate communication techniques, obtaining a detailed health history, demonstrating physical assessment skills, and cultivating critical thinking. Physiological, psychological, sociocultural, developmental and spiritual variables are introduced as they relate to the nursing process. Essential assessment techniques include inspection, palpation, percussion and auscultation with an emphasis on expected findings and variations of those findings. Students practice comprehensive health history taking and physical assessment skills in laboratory sessions.
