BALT 304 Medical Spanish

This course offers intermediate Spanish instruction for students participating in urban public health internships in a majority Spanish-speaking agency during the Baltimore Urban Studies study-away semester. Prior experience with at least one Spanish course or equivalent is strongly recommended. This course aims to increase linguistic and cultural competency regarding healthcare practice in Hispanic and Spanish-speaking populations. This course includes instruction and interactive language practice with native Spanish speakers. This course includes interactive seminar discussions on diverse perspectives of health, disease, and healthcare for Spanish speaking communities in the United States and other Latinx Spanish Speaking countries.
