CHIN 230 Modern Chinese Culture: A Cup of Tea

In-depth survey of modern Chinese culture. Students will discuss key elements of contemporary Chinese culture and life, with reference to cultural history and its impact on China today. Students will think critically about their own culture in relation to the differences they learn about Chinese culture and society. Topics include 1) basic introduction of Chinese language and history, 2) education and calligraphy, 3) social life, social media, food, and tea, 4) basic business culture, and 5) advice for Westerners living and working in China.
