MATH 422 Mathematics Research

This course is intended to allow mathematics majors to carry out research projects in collaboration with, and under the direction of a faculty mentor. The course will model the mathematical research process which includes learning the relevant mathematical background, conducting a literature review, analyzing open problems, and formulating conjectures. The semester will typically culminate with a written thesis, and the oral dissemination of the work.  The course may be taken more than once, but with a maximum of three credits per semester, and no more than 3 credits may count as a mathematics major elective.
