Business Information Systems (B.S.)

Program Overview

Discover the transformative power of technology in business development with Messiah University’s Business Information Systems (BIS) program. Our interdisciplinary curriculum spans hardware, software and communication technologies, equipping you with the knowledge to implement systems that streamline business processes. Engage in hands-on projects and collaborate with real-world businesses to design, build and refine systems tailored to meet modern challenges, employing data, technology and expert project management skills. With courses focused on computer programming and systems analysis and design application, you’ll be prepared to thrive in a variety of roles within the business and computer science fields.

Program Learning Outcomes

Graduates from Messiah’s Business Information Systems program can:

  1. Apply foundational content related to ACBSP accreditation Common Professional Component—disciplinary areas in which all business majors need to be proficient regardless of their major including Marketing, Finance, Accounting, Management, Law, Economics, Ethics, Information Systems, Global, Quantitative and Integrative.
  2. Apply business concepts, strategies and tactics.
  3. Demonstrate an ability to conduct methodological secondary research into business issues.
  4. Articulate how the Christian faith informs one’s work life and career.
  5. Analyze a complex computing program and apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify conventions.
  6. Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline.
