GLHD 321 International Community Research

Emphasizing a "place-based education" approach, students engage directly with diverse communities to assess health inequities, development initiatives, and the structural factors driving economic stability and growth. Through experiential learning, they explore the complex intersections of global health challenges with local traditions, governance structures, and economic conditions. In the first half of the course, students further develop their understanding of global health strategies and their implementation in community-based settings. In the latter half, they apply this knowledge by completing a Community Profile in an international setting with a special emphasis on water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH).
