EDME 840 Internship in School and District Leadership

This course extends the Educational Leadership Practicum by providing advanced, sustained field‑based experiences focused on district‑level and systemwide leadership. Designed for EdD candidates pursuing superintendent certification, the internship engages candidates in the complex responsibilities of executive leadership, including governance and board relations, policy development, fiscal and human resource management, instructional leadership across multiple schools, and community engagement. Emphasis is placed on applying leadership theory, research, and professional standards to authentic district decision‑making, ethical practice, and strategic problem‑solving. Through supervised practice and reflective analysis, students demonstrate readiness for superintendent responsibilities and leadership of coherent, high‑performing PK–12 systems.
