HIST 322 Modern Europe: 1730-1920
A study of European society, politics, and culture from the Enlightenment through the First World War. Topics include the development of modern Western ideologies such as nationalism, romanticism, liberalism, capitalism, socialism, and imperialism; political revolutions and reforms; industrialization, urbanization, and the new commodity culture; changing class, family, and gender relations; the cult of progress; and the status of religion in an age of doubt.
