EDME 555 Literacy Curriculum and Instruction

An introduction to reading theory from birth through grade 12. Course content emphasizes the transactional nature of the reading and writing process, the classroom teacher’s role, approaches to literacy practices, and the relationship between assessment and instruction. It includes the connection of reading, writing, speaking, and listening to the total curriculum. The course also includes literacy topics related to content-specific subjects, study skills, and the use of technology.
