NRSG 321 Pharmacology Nursing Pract

The science of pharmacology is ever-changing, as medication therapy evolves to target pharmacogenomics. Safe medication administration is paramount for the professional nurse. This course introduces students to the relationship between pharmacology and genetics through the concepts of pharmacogenomics. Major classifications of medications, side effects, drug interactions, and mechanism of action will be covered with an emphasis on patient education. Medication compliance, polypharmacy, and medication risks will be considered in the context of patient safety and person-centered care in the hospital and community settings.
