CHEM 102 Chemistry for Life

This course prepares non-science majors to recognize the significant role that chemistry has in the world around them. It focuses on the practical and fundamental principles of chemistry in the context of societal, political, economic, and technological issues that impact our lives. Students participate individually and in groups through class assignments that engage them in these complex issues. Students learn to read critically, think analytically, and assess information to achieve informed conclusions regarding the issues addressed. In the laboratory, students learn how to conduct and analyze simple investigations that illustrate the chemical concepts encountered in class.
