HIST 392 Women & Gender in Amer. History

Students will examine women and gender in American history, focusing on a comparative perspective of Americans’ experiences and constructions of gender. Organized chronologically and thematically, we will explore themes of power, identity, citizenship, race, and human rights. Students will identify the significance of gender in state, family, religious, and economic institutions, as people developed a sense of consciousness of their rights and negotiated for them throughout different moments in history.
