PSYC 250 Health Psychology
Health Psychology is a course dedicated to showing students how psychology and health are connected and how psychological principles can be applied to the enhancement of health, treatment of disease and prevention of illness. In this course, we will apply the biopsychosocial model to understanding the onset, course and outcome of various medical issues. We will also explore the issue of health disparities to promote understanding of differences among groups of people and how these differences can affect health. Finally, the course will utilize a life-course perspective to examine the needs and health challenges of people throughout the lifespan.
