OCCU 602 Level I Fieldwork: Adult Practice

The goal of Level I fieldwork is to introduce students to fieldwork, apply knowledge to practice, and develop understanding of the needs of clients" (ACOTE, 2023). In this Level I Fieldwork, students experience the OT process for the adult/older adult population through one or more of the following instructional methods: virtual environments, simulated environments, standardized patients, faculty practice, faculty-led site visits, and supervision by a fieldwork educator in a practice environment that focuses on the adult/older adult population. By applying knowledge learned in didactic coursework, students continue to develop observation skills, therapeutic use of self, professional reasoning, empathy, and a client-centered approach to the OT process. Emphasis will be placed on professionalism and communication skills, with a formal evaluation of student performance provided. Students will have the opportunity to complete this course either locally or internationally, with various clinical experiences available.
