OCCU 602 Level I Fieldwork: Adult Practice

"The goal of Level I fieldwork is to introduce students to fieldwork, apply knowledge to practice, and develop understanding of the needs of clients" (ACOTE, 2018). This Level I Fieldwork course involves observation, evaluation practice, and intervention planning and implementation of the adult and older adult population through simulated environments, observations, standardized patients, supervision by a fieldwork educator, and debriefing. The purpose is to develop an understanding of the needs of the adult and older adult client and to apply knowledge learned in didactic coursework to practice. Students continue to develop observation skills while participating in the evaluation and intervention process in various simulated adult practice settings. Emphasis will be placed on professionalism and communication skills, with a formal evaluation of student performance provided.
