OCCU 620 Global, Cultural, and Spirituality Factors in OT

This course is designed to address the role of culture and spirituality in local and global health and well-being.  Students will explore their cultural identity, examine the impact of cultural understanding and learn about other cultural groups through discussion, self-assessment, and reflection.  Students will demonstrate an understanding of culturally responsive practices when relating to individuals of diverse backgrounds.  Students will apply the client factors of values, beliefs, and spirituality within the occupational therapy profession and address them during occupational therapy practice.  This course provides tools and strategies within the occupational therapy profession to provide person-centered intervention to promote health and well-being.  Students also reflect on their own spirituality, values, and beliefs as a foundation to understand the spirituality, values, and beliefs of the client.
