HIST 101 Ancient Mediterranean World

The civilizations of the ancient Mediterranean world have profoundly influenced the ideas, languages, cultures, and institutions of western societies. Students explore the historical development of these diverse civilizations from the Bronze Age to Late Antiquity and learn to analyze ancient sources to interpret the past. Topics include Bronze Age civilizations, Greek cities, Athenian democracy, Alexander the Great, the Roman Empire, early Christianity, and the diversity and interactions of ancient civilizations.
