HIST 142 United States History Survey Since 1865

A study of the political, economic, social, cultural, and religious developments of the United States from the end of the Civil War in 1865 to the early years of the 21st century. Students will identify and analyze the various social and cultural factors that have shaped the daily experiences of people living in the U.S., including debates about justice, equality, and citizenship. Topics include Reconstruction, Progressivism, the era of Jim Crow, Women’s Suffrage, the Great Depression, social movements, and shifting American politics.
