HIST 141 United States History Survey to 1865

A study of the political, economic, social, cultural, and religious developments of the entity that became the United States from early European settlement in the sixteenth century to the end of the Civil War in 1865. Students will examine the diversity of the people and their interaction with the movements that have shaped early American society to form an understanding of this past. Topics include European exploration and colonization, colonial British America, American Revolution, the early American republic, slavery in America, and the American Civil War.
