THEO 207 African American Theology

Students explore African American Christian belief and practice, and a faith forged in the crucible of struggle. Follow the theological journey from enslaved African roots to contemporary expressions of liberation, survival, activism, and wholeness. Analyze and reflect on seminal texts in Black and Womanist theology and reflect on one's own convictions. Engage in discussions and learn tools for intercultural and contextual understanding. Practice scriptural reasoning, reflecting on pressing theological questions, and articulating one’s own convictions about Christian ethics and faithful social engagement in church and society.
