Human relationships are dialectical, presenting areas of tension and thriving. This course centers on the theory and practice of communication in human relationships such as romantic partners, friends, and family. Students will understand the intersections of identity, self-disclosure and society on healthy relationships. They will understand the dynamics of interpersonal conflict such as perspectives, power and style in relationships. Students will develop appropriate communication skills for sustaining healthy relationships, especially forgiveness and reconciliation, that truly make us live out the mandate of scripture “to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God” (Micah 6:8).
