SOWK 625 Advanced Social Work Practice with Groups
This course builds upon the theory and skills learned in human behavior, the generalist practice courses, and is applied in the field practicum. This course addresses the theoretical perspectives used in advanced social work practice with groups (both ‘treatment’ groups and ‘task’ groups) as well as builds competency in the use of specific evidence-based models of advanced group work practice and interprofessional collaboration. The focus is on providing a solid grounding as a leader/facilitator in the group planning process, engaging, and assessing groups, and identifying, building, and utilizing intervention and evaluation skills in the group process that are culturally responsive and relevant to current social work practice with diverse populations in varied contexts.
