POLI 312 Politics of China

Students will examine the politics of modern China from historical developments during the late Qing Dynasty to contemporary issues under the Communist Party and Xi Jinping. We will discuss China's political, economic, and social structures with careful consideration paid to the impact of major political events and policies such as the "Great Leap Forward," the death of Mao, protests in China, and Chinese influence in international affairs.
