POLI 314 Constitutional Law: Governmental Powers and Constraints

By reading and analyzing Supreme Court opinions, students will become familiar with how the Court has answered questions regarding the powers of Congress, the President, and the federal judiciary, as well as constraints on those powers. In addition, significant attention will be given to the Court's changing understanding of the relationship between the national government and the states, and the government's power to regulate economic activity.
