ENGL 333 John Milton

This course examines selected poetry and prose of perhaps the most important Christian poet in the English language with close consideration of how his dynamic Christian faith evolved over the course of his long career in response to political and religious upheavals in mid-seventeenth-century England, as well crises in his personal life – his first marriage and his blindness. The primary focus will be on Milton’s epic, Paradise Lost. This course falls in the Questions of Faith in Literature category.
