ENGL 363 Ancient Epic

This course examines the formation and development of the classical epic from its oral beginnings in The Epic of Gilgamesh and Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey. Subsequent texts may include Virgil’s Aeneid, Ovid’s Metamorphoses, and Lucretius’ On the Nature of Things. This course falls in the Questions of Form, Genre, and Craft category.
