NURS 601 Foundational Concepts of the Family Nurse Practitioner Role I

This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the foundational concepts of the family nurse practitioner (FNP) role, focusing on the integration of clinical knowledge, professional standards, and nursing core values. Students will examine the principles of billing, coding, and prescribing within the FNP scope of practice, emphasizing ethical, patient-centered care and regulatory compliance. Students develop advanced skills in physical assessment and history-taking, with an emphasis on accurate SOAP note documentation. Students will participate in an interprofessional simulation to promote a climate of mutual learning, respect, and shared values. Prerequisites: NURS 503, NURS 504, and NURS 505.
