NURS 707 Advanced Family Nursing Practice of Children and Adolescents

This course expands on pediatric assessment concepts, emphasizing the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic conditions commonly encountered in primary healthcare settings. Students will apply advanced pathophysiology, pharmacology, health assessment, diagnostics, and differential diagnosis to guide clinical decision-making based on evidence-based practice guidelines. Using a systems approach, the course highlights chronic care management, health promotion, disease prevention, and restorative/supportive care. This course equips students with competencies in diversity, equity, and inclusion to improve pediatric population health. Emphasizing adaptive communication and managing difficult conversations, students will apply these skills during clinical practicum hours. Prerequisite/Corequisite: NURS 703. Corequisite NURS 707C. (4.5 credits, 3 credits theory, 1.5 credits clinical = 90 hours).
