HIST 206 Ancient Roman World

The Ancient Roman world has profoundly influenced the political, social, and cultural ideals and values of western societies. Students explore the diversity and historical developments of the Romans from a small city-state to the end of antiquity and learn to analyze ancient sources to interpret the past. Topics include the origins of the city, Republican forms of government, imperialism, the civil wars, the Roman Empire, daily life, and the emergence of Christianity.
