HIST 210 Knights, Peasants, and Bandits

A study of how ordinary (and some not-so-ordinary) people coped with both daily life as well as major historical events in England from the Norman Conquest to the Tudor dynasty. Special emphasis is placed on life within the communities of family, village, court, church, and town. Learning outcomes include developing fluency in the methods of historical inquiry through analysis of material and textual artifacts; discovering the diversity of people, ideas, culture, society, material conditions, and religious practice in medieval England; communicating one’s own discoveries and ideas effectively to others; and discerning intersections between Christian faith and the discipline of history.
