NURS 507 Critical Appraisal for Evidence-Based Practice in Nursing
This course provides an integrated approach to statistics, research methods, and evidence-based practice (EBP) using the John Hopkins Model to prepare graduate nursing students with advanced skills needed to critically appraise and apply the best scientific and experiential (patient and provider) evidence in clinical practice. Students will learn to apply statistical reasoning, utilize databases for evidence retrieval, and evaluate ethical concerns in research. Emphasis is placed on the interpretation and synthesis of a variety of research and non-research evidence to support safe, high-quality, and culturally sensitive care. Additionally, students will gain experience in providing leadership in planning for practice change and disseminating recommendations based on scholarly findings.
