NURS 551 Leadership Practicum
This course focuses on developing nurse leader competencies in a variety of healthcare settings to facilitate role formation. Students develop leadership skills, including strategic decision-making, interprofessional team collaboration, human resource management, and quality improvement. Emphasis is placed on the application of theory and leadership practices through practicum experiences. Throughout the practicum, students will assume increasing responsibility in various leadership roles, fostering their ability to implement effective solutions, promote interdisciplinary collaboration, and influence positive changes within healthcare systems. The course prepares students for advanced leadership roles, empowering them to drive high-quality, patient-centered care and foster a culture of safety and excellence. This is a variable credit course (1 – 3 credits). One credit equals 60 hours of practicum, and 180 hours are needed. Prerequisites/corequisites:
NURS 560 and
LEAD 550.
